Frances H. HamptonMs. Hampton is a shareholder of the firm managing the Tax and Estates Group. Her areas of expertise include trusts and estates, estate planning, business succession planning, adult guardianships, business and taxation. Her unique professional background and comprehensive education in law, taxation and accounting provides an innate ability to identify and resolve complex issues, including sophisticated estate tax, business succession planning, fiduciary litigation and matters before the Internal Revenue Service. Ms. Hampton has expanded her estate planning practice to include a focus on “Blended Marriages,” working closely with individual and/or couples married with children from a prior marriage. She is also part of the firm’s Domestic Relations Department providing consultation with regard to equitable distribution, financial and/tax issues. Ms. Hampton has been repeatedly selected by her peers to be included in Virginia Business magazine's Legal Elite in the category of Taxes, Estates and Trusts. Prior to her admission to the Virginia Bar in 1996 and the Colorado Bar in 1997, Ms. Hampton practiced as a Certified Public Accountant and corporate comptroller. Ms. Hampton has a Master of Laws in Taxation and is a Certified Financial Planner. Ms. Hampton is also an adjunct professor at Old Dominion University where she teaches estate planning in the financial planning program and has previously served as an adjunct professor at Regent University School of Law teaching Estate and Gift Tax. Ms. Hampton is also admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
